The first three months of this school term we did the following task concerning our Comenius project. We’ve invented a mascot for our school, described it in different languages and explained it in these languages to our friends in Helsinki, who have drawn pictures following our descriptions.
First we have collected ideas for a mascot for our school in Vienna.
Then the pupils have drawn pictures how a mascot could look like.
We had very nice proposals and different drawings for our mascot.
The majority favoured the drawing of Selin .
The next step was that the pupils described the chosen picture in different languages, German, Turkish, Arabic and English.
Our Turkish native speaker corrected the Turkish desription, the mother of our Arabian pupil corrected the Arabic description, the English teacher helped with the description in English.
At a webconference with other schools (Helsinki,…) we invited them to join us at a computer lesson with the following aims: The Austrian children should describe their mascot in the languages mentioned above and the other pupils should draw a picture after the description.
On November, 21 st 2012 our online session took place and the pupils from Vienna liked to present their mascot. You can have a look on the drawings under
