Every year, young people from AHS and BHS schools in Vienna are invited to take part in the Foreign Language Contest organised by the Vienna Board of Education, Wipplingerstraße 28, 1010 Wien. At this event the contestants demonstrate their language skills and show what they are capable of in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and even Latin.

In times of ChatGPT and other AI tools, language competence has not become less important — quite the opposite. It has become even more valuable. The human touch is what truly brings language to life: the ability to react spontaneously, listen carefully, show empathy, express personality and build real connections with others. Speaking a language means more than producing correct sentences; it means communicating ideas, emotions and perspectives in a way that is authentic, lively and human.
